Indian Hills CC Closes Out 2011 with 'Warrior Christmas' Event

The athletic teams at Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa, Iowa, joined college clubs, organizations and staff in making the holiday season brighter for 65 area children during the college's Second Annual Warrior Christmas Wednesday night. The various groups sponsor one or two kids from the Salvation Army's Angel Tree program and buy gifts for those whose families may not otherwise be able to afford presents for their children. The special evening began with Santa Claus presenting a gift to each child and was followed by more gifts from the Indian Hills teams and groups and a lasagna dinner.

"It's a good way for Indian Hills to reach out, to help out a Christmastime," said Jennifer Sabourin, event organizer and director of housing and student activities. "The best part is watching the kids receive their gifts and seeing the smiles on their faces."
